How to apply
How applications to the Cotutelle Joint PhD Programme are made and assessed, and the entry requirements.
Applying to the programme
PhD projects in Sri Lanka are advertised by the host university, which shortlists applicants. Final selection is conducted jointly by the Sri Lankan university and RMIT University through an interview process. Applicants must apply to both institutions simultaneously and meet all academic and English-language requirements before registration.
RMIT follows a two-stage application process (Expression of Interest, then Final Application), while Sri Lankan universities run a direct PhD admission process. The full registration process typically takes up to six months from the Expression of Interest.
- Bachelor's degree requiring at least four years of full-time study in a relevant discipline
- First class (honours) or second class upper division for the Bachelor's degree
- Proof of English proficiency, see RMIT's entry requirements
